Hi Steve,
One of our followers has just let me know about there son who is unfortunatley in a stage of relapse with his cancer. His name is Thomas Cammack and he is 4. They are trying to raise 500k to get him treatment in new york to potentially save his life. People can find his plight on facebook under team thomas and its gone major around north yorkshire in the last week with supermarkets etc getting involved. Anyway weve been asked to step in and help so naturally we can so we will.
I will be organising a fundraiser in the coming weeks in a Leeds venue
and I will be contacting bands in due course for their commitment.
500k sounds steep - theyve raised close to 50k in a very short time.
Regards Andy

Blimey, what a situation, needing such a figure. I really feel for this little lad and his parents and family, cancer is a cruel disease.I really hope you can get a good turnout in every way to raise funds, and we'll give you 100% support.

Hi Steve, Just a quick note to say that I am depping tomorrow and Sat with The Kicks as their bass player, Steve has poorly man flu (the worst)
So if you all want to come and see me suffer after trying to learn 30 songs in 3 1/2 hours, come to The Sycamore in Eccleshill Sat or Crowle Club near Scunny on Friday.... eek...scared!!..and if any bass players want to come and have a go at songs they know (cos I will have forgotten them by tomorrow!)...feel free to volunteer!

Interesting stuff, a bit of a contradiction. We'll just monitor what's going on and hope the venue can keep putting bands on.

On behalf of Team Sober MCC I have today credited the RotN to the Core campaign with £600 - half the proceeds raised at Soberfest 2011. The balance raised on the day is being donated to The Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Team Sober would like to take this opportunity to once more thank all the bands (Sugar Mamas, Recycled, Breakout, Suicide Blonde, Green Daze Lost, The Interiorz, Straight as Quo and The Erics) who took part and gave their time for free, Rock of the North for allowing us to use the logos / intellectual property of the campaign and website in the publicity, and everyone who came on the day - it rocked! Soberfest II will be held on a Saturday (probably 6th October 2012) so we can all party longer and recover on the Sunday. Make sure you bookmark http://soberfest.co.uk/ where final date and lineup announcements will soon appear!

Many thanks for that and well done to Team Sober and all the bands, helpers and punters who contributed.I said it on the news page but it's all these people who are the heroes of the fund raising and I would like to thank each and every one for their committment to making a valuable and positive action to research into cancer treatments and cures. To people like me, it means such a lot. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is also a very worthy recipient, and as a biker, that also means a lot to me.

Sorry for spamming the comments section, last one for now I promise! Just out on a mission for a friend - one for the classified section. He's looking for a guitarist and a drummer for a Bradford based covers band, doing songs by artists such as Clutch, Down, Corrosion of Conformity, Hendrix, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Audioslave... if anyone can help him out, could they contact Paul on 07917824095. The way he put it, they're looking to do an unconventional covers set, more about having a laugh playing songs they enjoy than owt else so please give him a buzz if you're up for it!

I'll get that on for you Tom. Spamming? Don't worry about your comments, they're welcome. You ought to see some of the crap we have sent to us to try to wind us up. One bad apple and all that!

Hi Steve, thanks for adding our Huddersfield dates for this week. Unfortunately we've just had short notice that the Rock Cafe gig for 2 Feb is cancelled, and that they are stopping having bands on Thursdays due to poor attendance levels. It might be worth other bands checking if they have a Thursday gig at the Rock Cafe in their diary... Cheers LPD

Hmm, that's a shame, it's probably the only Thursday live music bar in the district.

Good stuff Stevie and I hope you have a good un on Friday. Nice to record your bands I think. Not for commercial purposes at this level of covers bands but it's a snapshot of part of your life.Hotel Pinders did a decent job for me too, at least I'm out of pain and still breathing!

Just had a quick skim over the latest news..Only Seen Topgun twice over a lengthy period of time but heard them making waves on the local pub and WMC scene for years. Didnt they split up a while ago.? I take my hat off to them though for keeping it going through thick n thin as it must be difficult to keep up the level of enthusiasm and drive with band members leaving and reinventions and comebacks. Hat is tipped. And the level of musicianship must be difficult to find for the genre of music they churn out..Will try and catch a gig if im in Cas or Barnsley...!

Rock Of The North

Yes you'll enjoy a very wide ranging repertoire played well. You do see personnel changes with bands from time to time and keeping an uninterupted run takes some doing. Good luck to bands for having that enthusiasm.

I've been hearing about it Betty! I reckon it was a proper capacity crowd. This band is gonna do well, I feel it in my water! I love to hear of bands like this, sort of local supergroups. Well done to the lads, they have 100% support from this breezy old part of the world!

Hi Steve,
Just to let you know that COYOTE play a one off pub gig this weekend at Rotherhams top live venue, The SNAFU. I played the venue back in 2005 with ALCATRAZ and the place was absolutely rammed and from the sounds of it this saturday will be just the same. Anyone that wants to see COYOTE in a place that doesn't have bingo will be made more than welcome.
Cheers

I think you'll really enjoy that Christian! Snafu is one hell of a rock bar with a reputation second to none! Best wishes to you and the band for a great atmospheric gig on Main Street. Regards to Snoopy!
