Hi Steve, good to see ya again last Sunday at Frontiers Rock and what a fantastic day it was. Others on here have commented on how well you looked Steve, and Ive got to agree with em. I think the best treatment for any illnesses is a good dose of live music, and we all got that Sunday and came away feeling a lot better... I emailed Hard Shoulders upcoming gigs could you please add to gig guide, this Sat at Boot n Shoe, Scholes , Hudds, Sat 14th Aug @ 3 Horse Shoes, Otley, Fri 27th Drop Kick, Bradford, and Sat 28th @ the Sycamores, Eccleshill, Bradford...cheers.

Rock Of The North

Thanks for the gigs Joe and it's always a pleasure being in your company. You are a top supporter and it was nice to meet your good lady wife. A good dose of music does keep you going and this has been part of my therapy from the start. The Frontier was awesome, I'm still thrilled about how good it was.

Some breaking news for the ROTN community. I am hanging up my bass boots in December for a few months, due to my first bambino expected in January '11. As a result, BROADBAND are looking for a new bass player. Playing classic and contemporary rock covers, from P!nk to AC/DC, via Stereophonics and The Killers, throughout Yorkshire. If you, or know someone who might be interested to try out, please check out www.broadbandyorkshire.co.uk , then please contact me at info@broadbandyorkshire.co.uk . Glad to see the Frontier event went well.

Rock Of The North

It did Keith, congratulations on the baby coming and I hope we can help you find a suitable bass chap.

Yes Steve I got the Woodystock teeshirt logo thanks, It looks great and I have sent it to the company who are doing the printing. I also still need a few bands to take part on the festival which is been held over 2 days on Saturday and Sunday 28th & 29th August. Every band taking part will be paid some expenses and they will also get some free drinks as the Woodbottom committee do not expect any bands to put time and effort in and end up out of pocket. If any bands want to appear on this excellent festival would they please contact me ASAP on 07963 162008. or email me info@splashalley.co.uk, Cheers

Wood Bottom club are really generous and it's a great club as well. Good luck with that Bri.

Hi Steve hope you're keepin well. I Gather one or two AC/DC fans may log on to this site now and again so thought they might like to know that the band are gonna be interviewed on the Richard Bacon show on BBC 5 Live tomorrow (Thurs) between 1 - 4pm. Looking forward to hearing it! Also if anyone is in the the Selby area on Saturday 'Splinter' are playing at the York Beer Festival at Selby Town Hall, so try get along and sample a pint of Badger's P*ss etc. ALSO Roxyrama are playing the Lion in Cas back end of September which we're all looking forwward to, but we were arguing whether or not it would be the first time an oboe has been played at the venue; anyone throw any light on this? Finally really sorry about your recent bereavement Steve; best wishes from all of us and hope you and the family are bearing up well. Great to hear The Frontier gig was a stormer also, well done to everyone concerned.

Rock Of The North

Cheers Fin, thanks for the info and sentiments. The Selby Town Hall venue is like a mini Amsterdam Paradiso with a gallery and try one of their Town Hall Pale Ales, it's good!

My senility is getting worse !!! Of course it's Saturday the 7Th of august and you are spot on , I have noticed at the East Leeds Lions event that bands walk on the stage and come off bigger and better so the same should happen at the Picturedrome , its going to rock!!!

Rock Of The North

I'm sure that's the way it is with bands and bigger stages, they really lift their game Phil.

Hi there everyone , Just need to plug the gig at The Picturedrome , Holmfirth with Fiery Biscuits and Northern Rokk , All I can say is dont let anybody tell you about the great gig you missed , get a ticket and be there !!!

Rock Of The North

You didn't say when it was Phil, but I think it's the 7th August.Should be a good do. I've noticed a few times that when you put pub bands on bigger stages they really make it work. All the Frontier bands did that this weekend and when I saw Twist of Fate there, they were brilliant.I think this gig at The Picturedrome will be like it.

Hi Steve, could you please alter gig guide for this Sat 31st. Unfortunatley Scooby have had to cancel due to the ongoing throat problem, we now have the Flatliners in their place. Thanks Lynn

Rock Of The North

Already done Lynn, I saw the Facebook post! I hope Matt soon gets over the throat problem.

First of several potential comments from me...just wanted to add my bit about Scott Eastwood. This lad is a real up & coming star; he's been up onstage as a guest guitarist on a couple of songs at 3 or 4 Astradust gigs, as well as him joining myself Claire & Jon Delirium for a full gig as All-Star Project, and he also has several jam night appearances under his belt. He has some impressive techniques & tricks, and would be a valuable addition to any band young or old. And no, Eric didn't pay me to say that lol. Sadly I had to miss Frontier; I was unable to reschedule a 12hr shift that day & was told the festivities would be wrapping up around 10pm. Glad to hear it was a roaring success, hopefully next time I'll be present (next time will be even bigger & better although from what I've read not sure that's even possible!). More later as I sift through the pages :)

Rock Of The North

Cheers Russ, we have to make sure our talented youngsters dont fall by the wayside as they are the future of live music. 12 hour shifts should be outlawed. I'm hoping the next Frontier will be bigger, but it would be hard to be better. Have I put your gig on??? I'll check.

Areet Steve & co. Can you amend the gig guide for us: ASTRADUST are playing SNAFU, Rotherham on Fri, and Golden Lion, Pudsey on Sat. Haven't been on here for ages, looks like there's loads to comment on but I'd best read it all first lol

Rock Of The North

OK Russ. Main thing you missed was Frontier Rocks!

Well I said I would do it and I have. I have started a facebook page to assist my nomination to get the one and only Mr Steve Lally an MBE so I should be most grateful if you would all join and invite all your friends to join click here Steve Lally MBE Don't know if that worked, if not just search facebook for Steve Lally MBE. I think it's the least we can do to get Steve the recognition we all know he deserves. Frontier Rocks was surely the pinnacle of everything Steve has been involved in. Of course not forgetting everyone else that was involved in any way at all. This surely must now be an annual event as it was a massive success!! May Lord Glover and Adrian I mean Aarren Mowle make it so!!! I had a fab day and just reading all the posts on here it would appear everyone else did too. Rob. Just a quick P.S. I anyone isn't gigging themselves My band Northern Rokk will be at The Picturedrome in Holmfirth Saturday 7th August with Fiery Biscuits - Tickets only a fiver available from me or on the door. Cheers

Rock Of The North

MBE...does the first two initials stand for Mad Bugger? The Frontier was the pinnacle of RotN history and I take my hat off to Brian and Aarren. The Splash Alley crew are a great set of lads as well. I saw a picture of Derek from Splash Alley on our RotN drumkit, one by Damian Twigg, and it gave me a very proud feeling.

Last night at the Birdwell Venue was brilliant, The place was full. The Jokers opened the show and they were superb and I would urge anyone who has not seen this band to go and see them. They are a nice bunch of lads as well and they kept thanking us all night long for doing the sound for them. After a short break to give us time to change the gear round Hayseed Dixie took to the stage and they did a full 2 hours of non stop Bluegrass Rock (If there is such a thing) with some jokes and humerous stories thrown in for good measure. These guys are also some of the nicest guys you could wish to meet and they invited any members of the audience who wanted a chat to go and talk to them,The band stayed until every punter had gone home and they were still chatting to the staff when I left to go home. Its great when bands dont forget that they are where they are thanks to the punters and are prepared to put the effort in to meet people after the show. Its a pity that some of The Big Rock Stars of this world dont do what these guys do instead of sitting in their ivory towers with their heads up their own arses..... Last night was great and I enjoyed every minute. The strange thing is, I dont normally like Blue Grass Country Music. Maybee I liked Hayseed Dixie cos they do it Rock Style..... Plinka plonk plinka plonk Hell aint a bad place to beeeeeehhey plinka plonk.

Rock Of The North

I like 'em actually and the Metallica ones make me laugh! I'm glad Birdwell got the punters in, it's a good venue.Good to see the band meeting and greeting. Walter Trout does this all the time and his fans love him for it. I watched Robert Cray with Walter one time at Manchester Apollo. He told me that Robert used to support John Mayall when Walter was a Bluesbreaker, but Walter supported Robert Cray that time. Bri- another subject...did you get the Woodystock T shirt design?

Thanks for your plug Steve.I'm really really gutted about Top Notch. I really really wanna be out gigging. I don't know whats happening at the moment so basically i'm looking for a band to play in. I'm really into stuff like metallica dc, bfmv, judas priest guns n roses and maiden. BUT I,m happy to play and learn anything. So if any band need a rhythm guitarist, i have all my own gear and a willing dad to drive me about. I'm hoping to get something together with Charlie but waiting for the grown ups to decide whats best for us. I just ask a little patience cos i'm only 14 and sometimes have to learn the songs the oldies like when i've never heard em before. oh and i'm willing to try backing vocals too. Ps can i please second Aarren for the hall of fame. Frontier was fantastic. One day i,d love to play that stage. Cheers Scotty

Rock Of The North

You might one day Scott, you've got all your life ahead of you. Talking of willing dads, I was a willing dad and was so chuffed when Joe jammed at The Boot and Shoe with Optic Nerve when he was 14. I never thought he'd play at the Glastonbury Festival...but he did this year by being in the right place at the right time! If you Alex and Charlie kept jamming stuff you like, you might get a singer turn up and away you go. Charlie's got a very willing dad too! A very useful Grandma too!
