Hi Steve hope you are well , we have just picked up a cancellation gig for Friday 12th Feb at The Cricketers in Horbury - can you put it in the gig guide please. Funny though - our last gig was at The Cricketers in Keighley - any more Cricketers pubs that want Plan B then give us a call.

First of 2 comments from me, Steve. TOC and Howard, what was dodgy about our start guys? Not being funny, just can't sort it if I don't know what it was.

I love reading comments on here that are filled with light hearted banter and downright p**s taking....along with the serious musically orientated stuff, it's what the site's all about!! When is the merry go round with band members gonna end, I thought the transfer window had closed!! Had a brill night in the LION on Saturday mixing with the live music Glitterati and the JD Band (in it's various forms) entertained a packed house......it was a long stagger back to my house too! Sunday night in the EARLY BATH was also a special occasion with FLASHBACK taking us back to our youth (mine anyway), whilst celebrating Chris and Shelley's joint birthdays! There's something about 60s music that really gets you going, especially presented in the way FLASHBACK deliver......oh well, weekend over, back to the TV and Computer!!!

Cheers T, and a good comment on a weekends good living. There's been a few transfers going on this past few weeks, as you say, when will it end!

MR CHIEF would like to welcome Carl Wragg to the band. This will not conflict with Carl's other commitments to Helvis and Red Mosquito. Carls first gig with us is on Saturday at The Polish Club where we have a surprise support band on!

Had a great night in the Healdfield on Saturday to see the ever improving Daze. Not seen it as packed since a memorable pool match between Francis Flanaghan and Tony Blackburn back in 1984 when I was at the helm.
It was also impressive to see all the boys from Daze and their parents in the Lion on Friday to see Top Gun who thankfully turned in another memorable performance after a somewhat unfamiliar dodgy start.
Went back down the Lion to see second half of JD Band. Thoroughly enjoyed the night, it was like a convention with all the musos in the throng.
We will miss the band like hell.

Thought you said "all the musos in their thongs"....anyway, I agree as most have that JD Band will be missed and I think Jay should do a U turn!Memorable pool matches in the Healfield...yes that would be me and the boy, and young Curlyloppers said," Fat boy, I'm gonna thrash ya!" ...I beat him.

Hi ROTN. Just recovered from a monumental hangover courtesy of spending Saturday evening at the Lion watching the JD Band. Only the 2nd time i've seen em play as the first was when we went down to support Andy when he played one of his first gigs on guitar for them. Shame they are splitting up because they are 10 times the band i first saw a year ago. Great choice of songs and played by a great set of musicians as well as decent lads. Me an Wolfie installed ourselves just in front of the stage in prime position to heckle the band - in good humour of course, to which the JD lads took it in manner the it was meant. There was a great atmosphere in the Lion on Saturday down to good music and an appreciative crowd - still wanna give it up Jay?
On another note managed to catch Stickleback in my local club the week before, we'd just finished playing 90 mins on the footie pitch and returned to the club when someone muttered those immortal words 'theres a turn on int best room toneet'. On further inspection it was the Stickleback lads. Another top band on the circuit. After a reserved 1st set (reserved audience that is) they then proceeded to knock em dead in the second spot, begging for more at the end. Highlight of the night was when Howard got weggied by an old dear as he played his bass stud on her table. A nice pair of Strawberry Y fronts the likes of she'd never seen for 20 odd years i bet. Over n out captain

I am totally in need of a pee after reading the bit about being weggied! Brilliant! I must agree with this comment completely! Two great bands, and Jay...don't give it up.

Just got to agree with Kriss about Top Gun @ Klondyke on Saturday. Absolutely first class gig. I've seen them 3 times in just over a month now, and theres a good reason - they just keep getting better and better and are steaming to the top of the premiership league of bands. Superb setlist, very well delivered by quality musicians, and a great sound and overall gig experience. What a band. I know a lot of people dislike the song but ive never known anything like what happened during 'Don't Stop Believing'... A packed club ALL descended to the dancefloor in the opening keyboard intro. I've never seen anything like it, there must've been about 50 people all rush down to the front. I knew the song was a favourite in Barnsley and ive certainly seen a lot of club gigs which have got everyone on their feet for it, but i'd never seen anything like that before. It was as if the whole of Barnsley suddenly ran to the front of the Klondyke! Looking forward to seeing them again soon.

Good comment Carl. A lot of bands have their time on top spot for periods of time and I think it's TG's turn. The Journey moment must've been quite something and I dont subscribe to this "I like/dislike Journey" business. Some do, some dont. Those who do should enjoy it, those who dont can wait for the next song coming along. Music is like food, some like curry, some dont. It's called taste. Many dont like blues but I do, and I've just been twangin along to You tube on my latest toy, a Michael Kelly superstrat. It's loverley !!!

Hi Steve,
Well I picked a good day to comment, thanks for the mention on the news page.We had a great weekend the place was packed on Saturday the best this year so thanks to DO$CH Andy & Ian you were great we really look forward to the new line up,We were also packed last night for our comedy night that works so well for us, you have to have so many strings to your bow these days, yes we are quiter in the week days as there is not alot left around us sadly, but we still do really well at other times the real ale is great we were voted Sheffield pub of the month for January 2010.Thanks again to you Steve for your kind words re NBT and thanks for your personal support re health issues and thanks to all the wonderful bands we have here who also visit us not just when they play but to support the food, music, comedy etc cheers Steph x

Good to hear from you Steph and I support you and the pub as both me and as RotN. Great to hear about the Dosch gig which I'm sure will have been excellent. Andy and the boys are very popular with us and Col will add his own personal touch, probably backing vocals too, and in the fullness of time I could envisage a live Dosch album seeing the light of day, and Live at the NBT falls off the tongue easily! You have a great pub there and the personal touch adds to it. Thanks Steph.

Hi Steve and all Rotn'ers. Just catching up on all the comments, haven't looked for a few days, they build up dont they!. first of all at a loose end on Friday, I turned up at the Roscoe to see my mate Fin's band Roxyrama having checked out the gig guide. Not on! Instead by coincidence Archive's old drummer Dave's band were on. Its nice to catch up but I had my Tux on for Roxyrama, must have looked daft! Still, it wouldn't be the first time.... Secondly thank you for thinking of us for The Vic at Saltaire on 1st May. We are at the Admiral Duncan on that night so couldn't have done it anyway, but we are at the Vic in Saltaire two weeks after that on the 15th May. I have made a note to keep more up to date on the comments!

Good morning all. Top Gun were fantastic on Saturday night at the Klondyke. The place was packed with a very appreciative audience who demanded 2 Encores and even tried for a third after the stroke of midnight! Don't think i've ever seen the dancefloor as full when they belted out their version of what I call "that damn Journey song!" lol. Nice to see Daz and Carl of RM in attendance too. Excellent night had by all!

Good band Kriss and climbing the ranks. They're one pub/club "cross-over" band who can actually cut the mustard at all levels.I dont think there is a band who get as much praise on here as Top Gun. Although I give them nothing but praise, the comments page is the guage of popularity.

Well I dropped into the Lucorum in Barnsley to watch Mynas and a bunch of other people at the open mike night - what a nice place , nice little area for the jam and a big area in the other room for bigger events. It was full and loads of people got up and played - was especially impressed by Mynas who had a lady drop in and play saxophone with them.. What a good night - will go back again on a sunday.I hope that I can get Plan B and some of my other bands on here - looks well worth it.
